Remedies for baby older than 1 year
1. Chamomile
Chamomile can ease the symptoms and discomfort of a runny nose and reduces sneezing. Moreover, this herb can boost your baby’s immunity.
1. Boil 1-2 teaspoon of dried chamomile flowers in cup of boiling water.
2. Boil it for 8 minutes on low flame.
3. Strain it and allow it to cool.
4. Add 1 teaspoon of honey to it. Give your baby 1 tablespoon after every 2 hours.
2. Ajwain with adulsa & liquorice
1. Take 1 tablespoon of carom seeds/ajwain/celery seeds, 2 adulsa leaves, one behda and 2-3 pinches of liquorice powder.
2. Boil all these ingredients in glass of water until it reduced to half.
3. Strain the mixture. Let it cool and then add 1 teaspoon of honey to this liquid mixture.
4. Give 2 tablespoon at a time to your baby and continue it after every 3 hours. Above ingredients are easily available in ayurvedic shops.
Note: Also apply some warm ghee on your baby’s nose to get out the nasal mucus easily.
3. Cinnamon with lemon and honey
Add 2-3 pinches of cinnamon powder, 1 tablespoon of fresh lemon juice to cup of hot water. Stir it properly and cool it down. Then add 1 teaspoon of honey to it. Give 2 tablespoon to your baby after every 3 hours to relieve the symptoms and discomfort of a runny nose.

4. Ginger with honey
Add 1 tablespoon of fresh ginger juice to cup of boiling water. Boil it for 5-7 minutes on low flame. Let it come to normal temperature and then add 1 teaspoon of honey to it. Give your baby 2 tablespoon after every three hours as cold syrup.
5. Fennel seeds with Cardamom & Cloves
1. Boil 1 tablespoon of fennel seeds, 2-3 pinches of cardamom powder/elaichi and pinch of clove powder/laung in glass of water.
2. Boil until itreduced to half. Strain the mixture. Let it cool down.
3. Then add 1 teaspoon of honey to it to improve the taste.
4. Give 1 tablespoon of this water after every 2-3 hours.
Note: You can try above remedies to treat runny nose, common cold and cough during your pregnancy too.
6. Steam
For kids older than 9 months, you can use your facial steamer or hot water bowl. Sit with your baby on your lap and lean over a steamer or bowl of hot water with a towel over your and baby’s head to trap the steam. Repeat this twice a day. Inhaling steam helps clear out the mucus that causes the sneezing and runny nose. It also helps your baby sleep better.

7. Warm Chicken Soup
For baby older than 1 year, warm chicken soup will help reduce the uneasiness of a runny nose and cold. Moreover, warm chicken soup increase immunity and prevents infections of the respiratory tract in baby.
Simply make some chicken soup; you can add some vegetables like beetroot, spinach and carrots. Give it to your baby 2-3 times a day.
Home Remedy for babies of all ages
Eucalyptus Oil
Eucalyptus can reduce runny nose and associated symptoms in your baby and also helps to get rid of mucus, as it works as a natural decongestant.
1. Mix 8-10 drops of eucalyptus oil with 3-4 tablespoon of warm extra virgin olive oil. Massage your baby’s chest and back with this warm mixture twice a day, especially before baby’s bedtime.
2. You can also add 5-6 drops of eucalyptus oil to baby’s warm bath water. Let your baby enjoy the warm bath. Repeat it twice a day.
Acupressure point for nasal congestion
1. Place your index finger on both side of baby’s or adult’s nose at the widest part, and gently press this point for 7-10 seconds.
2. Press this point 4-5 times in one cycle. You have to use a gentle pressure only.
3. Pressing on this part, gives instant relief. You can repeat this technique up to 2-4 times a day.
Caution: Above acupressure point should be applied only to children above 1.5 year.
